The Boaz Field ministry began at White Chapel UMC and serves local families by supplying fresh produce to food banks at no cost.

Boaz Field, dedicated to the service of God on May 16, 2009 is one acre of land planted to provide fresh produce to local food banks. Crops included corn, potatoes, green and yellow beans, beets, onions and tomatoes.

‘Weed & Feed’ was planned to maintain the garden. Everyone was invited to gather at White Chapel UMC, on Friday nights throughout the summer. In addition to weeding the garden, activities included cook-outs, games and music.

In its first year, Boaz Field was:
1
acre of land
5 sponsoring churches
12 different crops
20 charities receiving produce
Over 100 people planting weeding, watering and harvesting
Over 300 volunteer hours
Over 2700 lbs. of produce donated
Since then, it has continued to grow, as other local churches plant, harvest and donate additional crops.
